katee::dream the day away
So, I downloaded the iJournal client to actually help me update my dreamwidth account some. A lot of what I post on LJ, I wouldn't mind having over there, I just forget to crosspost. But this lets me post entries both places with just a couple of extra clicks, so we'll see how this goes. I've been using xJournal before now, and really loved it. This seems to have all the same features, except it doesn't automatically load my tags to where I can just click the ones I want to use. I'll have to actually type them all in. Or post the entry and edit them through LJ and DW, maybe? Also, it doesn't automatically change the song in iTunes when a track ends and goes on to the next one. I have to tell it to grab the song again.

You know, the past few days I've been craving stuff like crazy and eating it all and then going to bed feeling sick, but now I'm starving and nothing sounds good. Body, why can't you just be normal?

I don't have to work at Hastings today, tomorrow, or Tuesday, so it will be nice to just chill for a few nights. I'm predicting renting all the rest of True Blood and maybe buying S2 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer since I finally got around to finishing S1 last night and they're on sale for $20 at Hastings right now. LOL, I love how even on days I'm not working there, I'm usually up there for something. I love that place a little too much.

So, yesterday I worked an 8-hour shift in books. I really like doing books. I go in and Des has a list of the things that need to be done that day, and I get them done in my own sweet time. Working register there's always someone telling me what to do RIGHT NOW OMG and it's just blah. I am so not a team player.

Anyway, yesterday there were these two girls, who couldn't have been older than 10, who kept walking all over the place and talking loudly and it was pretty hilarious. They weren't trying to be funny, but I kept overhearing them and cracking up. One of them was clearly in charge of the whole friendship and called the other one Emo. Not like, "You're so emo!" but like, "OMG, Emo, get your butt over here and look at this!"

At one point, the girl called Emo pointed out a Twilight display and Little Miss Bossy, said, "Puh-leeze. I am so over Twilight. All I care about anymore is True Blood!" and she said True Blood in this little sing-songy voice and I almost died. Also, I think she uses True Blood as slang for cool because she kept picking things up and saying, "Oh my god, that is like, so True Blood!"

Also, LOL this girl was, like, 10. I'm wondering if she's actually seen True Blood (Because she must be talking about the show, right? The books aren't called True Blood.) I mean, props to her if mommy lets her watch it, but idk.

Nothing to do today! Except go home and do laundry. But that doesn't really count, because I'll probably just lounge around the house and actually get around to finishing Watchmen.

Friday morning I'll be taking my very first flight to my very first sci-fi convention to meet [personal profile] fwf for the very first time (there will also be a [personal profile] ninamazing with us, but I met her over Spring Break, so she doesn't really fit into the whole firsts theme I have going here.)

What I'm most nervous about is the flight. The first one leaves at 8:30 Friday morning and I have layovers in Atlanta and Cincinnati before reaching Madison, Wisconsin at 2:30 in the afternoon. I keep having dreams that I miss a flight and am stuck in some strange place with no money to get home or that I forget about the whole thing entirely and the money I paid for everything is a total waste.

But enough with that. Let's move on to more positive things! Yesterday I took a look at the schedule and found several things to be excited about.

  • THERE'S A DR. HORRIBLE'S SING-ALONG BLOG PARTY WHAT!
  • A discussion panel all on Harry Potter and Battlestar Galactica fanfiction. Um, yes. They would pick these two specific fandoms for it to be about, wouldn't they?
  • A panel on Dollhouse! Though I feel this has the potential for people getting angry what with feminists being completely divided on how they feel about this show. [personal profile] ninamazing has already agreed to go to this one with me. And, um, I might want to get around to watching the final three episodes, huh?
  • A panel on Doctor Who and Torchwood! OMG.
  • A discussion panel all for talking about what we loved and hated about Battlestar Galactica now that it's over. I think this is what I'm most exited about!
  • And there's a specific time for mothers to gather with their kiddos and talk about Twilight. I AM SO GOING TO BE THERE. I love listening to feminist mamas go on about Twilight.
  • Also, the whole part where I'm going to be with [personal profile] fwf and [personal profile] ninamazing the whole time! The three of us have known each other through LiveJournal for over a year and a half now, so it's going to be excellent being able to giggle together for realz rather than typing 'LOL' at one another.

I'll probably keep my MacBook on me at all times and take ridiculous amounts of notes about everything and post them here, so keep your eyes open!
